It’s no secret that Xiaomi’s Pocophone F1 has had its dream run. With a priority on high specs and gaming performance in mind, this beast of a phone was a dream come true for many avid smartphone gamers. Naturally, a lot of tech-fanatics here were eager to get their hands on it, however, it was quite a bummer when it was revealed that only 6+64 GB variant would be released in the Nepalese market.
Now, more than a year after the original launch of the phone, Mi Nepal has partnered with Sastodeal to exclusively bring the 6+128 GB variant for sale.
Did the offer come a little too late? Maybe, yes. Definitely… YES. But is the phone still worth it? Let’s find out.
Pocophone F1: Overview
One of the main catches of the Poco F1 is definitely the hardware it packs for the price point. Although it’s a budget to mid-range phone, it packs a powerful Snapdragon 845 processor with 6 solid gigs of RAM. Add a 4000mAh battery and an Adreno 630 GPU to the mix, and we have a solid phone capable of running a lot of heavy-duty games quite easily. Furthermore, we have a liquid-cooling tech keeping sure that the processors don’t overheat easily after long sessions of use. This choice of hardware is congruent to the main focus of this phone: gaming.

Apart from performance, the other features of this phone are nothing completely mind-blowing. It comes with a 6.18″ IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen protected by Cornering Gorilla Glass. It houses a dual-camera setup consisting of a 12MP primary snapper and a 5MP depth sensor. The selfie camera has a 20MP lens, with features like HDR and 1080p video recording (30fps). This still makes it competitive with other phones in its price range right now.
The body is made up of plastic, although a choice of Kevlar build is also available. FYI, Kevlar is the material that professional swordsmen (fencers) use to protect themselves… so now you can protect your phone from swords too!
Pricing and availability
Although the launch of this variant has far disappointed the expectations of Nepali consumers, it’s arguably still a pretty solid choice for a phone. For the price we are getting it for, it is definitely pretty competitive with other current phones in terms of specs and performance. Currently, it is available for pre-booking at a price of NPR 29,999 exclusively through Sastodeal. This means that you won’t be able to find it on any platforms other than Sastodeal. To place an order, buyers will have to fill out a form detailing their personal details.
It’s pretty obvious that many are pissed off on Mi Nepal for bringing this offer up so late. Although it does come at a pretty ‘unbeatable’ price, as quoted by Mi Nepal themselves, it’d have been far more exciting for the Mi fans to see something more exciting like the K20 Pro.
