Remember the Nokia C1 from the old days? The num-pad one, with Sudoku and our old-but-gold Snake game? Well, Nokia has just launched a new budget phone bearing the same name. Only this time, it’s a touch smartphone with nifty modern features and sports Android 9, Go edition.
Nokia C1 Overview:
Nokia’s new C1, which has just been launched across stores in Nepal, seems to be geared towards a very budget audience. The major plus point to this piece seems to be that it sports the Android Pie’s Go edition. Go is built geared towards entry-level smartphones and runs reimagined apps even in tight hardware conditions. This means that the C1 will be more data and storage efficient while retaining a great performance despite its low cost.
The C1 is a relatively small phone, with its screen measuring at 5.45 inches with 480 x 960 pixels resolution. The screen is an IPS one. It’s under the protection of toughened glass, which provides a certain level of resistance to drops and scratches too. We don’t think the phone is still as “Nokia tough” as the old feature phones used to be but this toughened glass still increases the durability considerably.
It also sports a 5MP lens on both sides. Both sides also house an LED flash, which allows for stuff like low-light photography.
On the hardware side of things, we have a 1.3GHz Quad-core CPU. This is paired with a 1GB RAM and 16 gigs of internal storage. This isn’t a lot really. But this shouldn’t be a huge problem since there is a dedicated microSDXC slot which allows a further 64 gigs of storage. Furthermore, there is a dual SIM. That being said, the phone only supports up to 3G, so if you’re gearing to catch some of that 4G or 5G action, this certainly isn’t the phone for you.
The battery is a 2500 mAh one. This, as Nokia puts it, can keep the device running for a whole day. It is chargeable with a standard micro-USB port charger.
