After releasing their flagship OnePlus 8 series, the folks over at OnePlus promised us a couple more affordable phones for the year. Rumors about OnePlus’s alleged affordable smartphone have been floating around the internet for quite some time now but without any concrete evidence. That is, until very recently. Yesterday, a listing for the OnePlus Z was found on Geekbench, a site that ranks the ‘roar’ of smartphones based on their hardware performance.
From what we can see, not only is it going to be much more affordable than any of the other OnePlus smartphones on the market, it is also going to provide solid value for its mid-ranged price point.
OnePlus ‘Z’ 5G- Packing a lot for a lot less:
Geekbench lists it with a 612 Single-Core Score and 1955 Multi-Core Score. This effectively confirms that it will sport the Snapdragon 765G Chipset. Also, according to the listing, the device has 12 gigs of RAM. On top of Android Q, it runs OnePlus’ prized OxygenOS. The 12GB RAM is a bit of an overkill for a mid-range smartphone, though. So it’s highly probable that variants with lower memory specs will be available as well.

This is certainly a step up from what we previously speculated. The Snapdragon 765G(1.8 GHz) will have 5G capabilities as well. However, a variant without 5G connectivity could be released as well.
From what we can see, the phone is pretty sleek looking. A punch-hole notch on the center holds the selfie camera. This 6.5″ OLED screen could have a 90Hz refresh rate option as well, despite its price range. The product is yet to be announced but looking at the specifications, it should be within the budget category. Let us know your thoughts on this in the comment section below.
