The Chinese smartphone maker company Xiaomi has recently announced its latest MI series flagship smartphones named Mi 8, Mi 8 Explorer Edition and Mi 8 SE in their 8th-anniversary celebration. Xiaomi has also announced Mi band 3, MIUI 10, Mi VR Standalone and Mi TV 4 which is of 75 inches.
The company has launched Mi 8 and Mi 8 Explorer Edition with the similar specification but slightly different in terms of design. These devices both come with Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI 9 skinned out of the box and company have announced MIUI 10 update for these devices on upcoming days.
MI 8, MI 8 Explorer Edition
Talking about the key highlights of the devices, both Mi 8 and Mi Explorer edition has got 6.21 inches full HD+ Super AMOLED display designed by Samsung with the resolution of 2248×1080 pixels which have the aspect ration 18:7:9. At the top of phones, the notch is placed where 20MP selfie camera, proximity sensor, earpiece and infrared senso30r are given. Mi 8 and Mi Explorer edition are powered by Octa core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC chipset combined with Adreno 630 GPU for gaming and graphics intensive task. Mi 8 comes with 3 variants for storage where all the variants have 6GB RAM with the internal storage of 64GB, 128GB and 256GB respectively whereas Mi 8 Explorer edition comes with only one variant that is 8GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

For the photography enthused, the phone comes with the dual sensor having 12MP on both primary and secondary camera. The primary sensor has an aperture of f/1.8. 26mm wide angle lens, 4-axis OIS, Optical zoom and a secondary sensor has a f/2.4 aperture, 2 times zoom. The front 20MP selfie camera supports AI portrait support and face unlock.
The both Mi 8 and Mi Explorer edition is powered by 3,400mAh and 3,000mAh battery respectively which support Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0. On other hands, Mi 8 comes with front-mounted fingerprint scanner whereas Mi 8 explorer comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner which is first in Xiaomi smartphones. Mi 8 can be unlocked by IR face detection and Mi 8 Explorer edition is unlocked by 3D face unlock which is same as in iPhone X. For the connectivity, we get Dual 4G VoLTE, dual-band WIFI which supports both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz ac band, Dual frequency GPS, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC and a USB type C.
Mi 8 SE
Xiaomi Mi 8 SE is a budget phone compare to Mi 8 and Mi 8 Explorer edition which comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC and GPU of Adreno 616 GPU. For the storage, the phones come with two options i.e. 4GB RAM with 64GB and 6GB with 64GB variants.
Xiaomi Mi 8 SE has got 5.88 inches full HD+ Super AMOLED display which also has a notch on the top with the resolution like both Mi 8 and Mi Explorer edition 2248×1080 pixels and aspect ratio of 18:7:9. Coming to the camera of Mi 8 SE the phone is equipped with Dual AI camera with an aperture of f/1.9 and secondary camera which have a 5MP camera with an aperture of f/2.0. For the selfie camera, the device has got 20MP selfie camera with AI support portrait features.
Xiaomi Mi 8 SE has got rear-mounted fingerprint scanner with the connectivity option of Dual 4G VoLTE, WIFI ac band, USB Type-C port, GPS and Bluetooth 5.0. The phone is powered by 3,120mAh battery which supports Quick Charge 3,0.
