Xiaomi had finally launched its mid-range smartphone, the Poco M2 Pro, a few days back. The second phone was launched by the Xiaomi spin-off brand after the Poco X2 launch in February. The device is powered with Qualcomm Snapdragon 720 and boasts a powerful quad rear camera setup. Likewise, the Poco X2 also boasts a quad rear camera setup, but it offers 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage variants. But the question arises which one (Poco M2 Pro vs Poco X2) is better when we compare the specs. Is Poco M2 Pro better or Poco X2? So in this article, we will compare these two smartphones to see which one is better.
Poco M2 Pro vs Poco X2:
Display and Design:
Both the Poco M2 Pro and the Poco X2 come with a 6.67-inch FHD+ screen with 1080 X 2480 pixels of resolution. However, only the Poco X2 comes with a 120Hz refresh rate. This means that the Poco X2(when used in the 120Hz mode) provides a much smoother experience than the M2. This alone is enough to declare the X2 as a winner in this Poco M2 Pro vs Poco X2 debate in terms of display. Both phones possess a similar screen-to-body ratio of 84.5% and an aspect ratio of 20:9. This makes them quite sleek to look at. Cinematic videos like movies and videos are best watched in ‘tall’ aspect ratios like 20:9.
Cameras:
Talking about the cameras, both Poco’s sport powerful quad rear camera setups, but in different layouts. The Poco M2 Pro houses a 48-megapixel primary shooter, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, a 5-megapixel macro sensor, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. On the other hand, the Poco X2 comes with 64-megapixel primary shooter and a 2-megapixel macro sensor while the secondary sensor and depth sensor are kept the same.
Yes, megapixels aren’t all there is to compare in the world of mobile photography, but because both these phones are from the same company and use similar lens hardware and software algorithms, photos on the 64MP primary camera of the X2 definitely seem clearer and crisper than the 48MP M2. But macro shots are much better shot on the M2, so ultimately the bottom line lies at what you want to click through the camera setups.
For selfies, the M2 Pro is housed with a 16-megapixel sensor while the X2 is housed with a dual-camera setup consisting of a 20-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor. Both are encased in the hole punch on the display. Again, the X2 seems to win the megapixel game, although there doesn’t seem to be much of a drastic upgrade in the picture quality.
Hardware and Performance:
As mentioned earlier, the Poco M2 Pro is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720. The Poco X2, on the other hand, relies on the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 730. On the graphics side, the Adreno 618 GPU does the work for both devices. The X2 clearly comes out as a winner – so if a better gaming phone is on your wishlist, the X2 might fare better for you.
Both devices run Android 10 OS with the same UI on top.
The new Poco M2 Pro only goes up to 6GB RAM, which is comparatively lower than the older Poco X2. The Poco X2 could reach up to 8GB RAM. We can say the older Poco was much better in terms of storage as the variant can go up to 256B of internal storage as well while the M2 Pro sits with only 128GB storage.
Battery and Color option:
In terms of battery, the Poco M2 comes with a massive 5,000mAh battery and supports 33W fast charging. The Poco X2, on the other hand, comes with a 4,500mAh battery and support for 27W charging. Charging times are somewhat the same for both these devices.
The M2 Pro comes in the color of Green and Greener, Out of the Blue, and Two Shades of Black while the X2 comes in Atlantis Blue, Matrix Purple, and Phoenix Red.
Price:
The last nail in the coffin: the price tag. The Poco M2 Pro is a bit on the cheaper side compared to the Poco X2. This can explain why the X2 comes bundled with a more powerful processor, and better specs, although ultimately it is up to you to decide if an extra 3-5k is worth spending for the added specs.
The price for the Poco M2 Pro sits at NPR 23,000(4GB+64GB) and NPR 26,000(6GB+64GB) and is available in Nepal through offline stores and online portals. The X2, though, hasn’t arrived yet, but we can estimate the prices to be around NPR. 25,600 (6GB+64GB) and NPR. 28,000 (6GB+128GB) based on their prices in India.
