The Vivo Y-series has gained quite a name for itself with its feature-rich affordable choices smartphones. Promising long-lasting battery life, speedy performance, and irresistible camera specs, the Y30, Y50, Y19, Y12, etc all were highly sought after phones in their respective price range. Following a delay after the coronavirus pandemic, Vivo has finally confirmed that the latest smartphone in the Y-series line, the Vivo Y20 will hit the Nepali market this week. Equipped with an enormous 5000mAh battery and a trendy side-mounted fingerprint sensor, the Y20 seems geared to capture a fair spot in the mid-range market for itself. Let’s dive into the full specs, price in Nepal, and availability regarding the Vivo Y20 in this article.
Vivo Y20: More Power More Fun
Display and design:
The Vivo Y20 comes with a solid 6.51″ Halo FullView Display. With an elongated 20:9 cinematic ratio and HD+ resolution, the screen features a V-shaped notch instead of the much-in-trend punch-hole notches blazing in popularity right now, but it looks quite clean and stylish nonetheless. The colors on this IPS LCD capacitative display look quite vivid and clear, although the colors don’t look as deep as they would on an AMOLED panel.
The design of the Vivo Y20 is clean and minimalistic, while still retaining the “Vivo sparkle” in its design. The polished 2.5D body is specially curved to refract light in an angle that makes it look like light rays are shooting out of the camera panel. The rear comes shaded with a single color only – without any dual-color gradient color design like so many other Vivo phones.
On the side, we have the side-mounted fingerprint sensor, placed on the top of the power button. According to Vivo themselves, this side-mounted sensor is capable of unlocking the phone in as little as 0.22 seconds, which is really handy as all you have to do to then unlock your phone is to press the power button.

Cameras:
Marketing itself time and time again as a “Camera Phone“, Vivo has never been one to compromise on camera quality or specs. The rear of this phone houses a camera panel with AI-powered triple camera setup. With a 13MP primary wide-angle camera, 2MP depth sensor, and a 2MP macro lens to top things off, the camera setup supports a wide range of features like Face Beauty, Portrait Light Effects, Close-up capture, etc.
The depth sensor lens delivers pretty accurate and sophisticated results, thanks to Vivo’s bokeh algorithm. The macro lens opens up an entirely new close-up world for the mobile photographer, delivering quality shots from as close as 4cm.
On the front, we have a 8 MP camera with wide selfie mode and Selfie Light Effects.
Hardware and Performance:
The Vivo Y20 runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 460 processor(11nm). With an octa-core Kryo (4×1.8 GHz + 4×1.6 GHz) CPU and a majestic Adreno 620 GPU handling graphics, the Y20 can handle most games and heavy apps with relative ease. Add 4 solid gigs of RAM and 64GB internal storage on top, and you have a mid-range beast on par with most of the other phones in this price range.
The overall feel and performance of this phone is very smooth. Running Funtouch OS 10.5 on top of Android 10, multi-tasking and gaming are amazingly smooth, thanks to numerous software optimizations and the Multi-Turbo 3.0 mode: a responsive AI Turbo that predicts and resolves system abnormalities (often caused by third-party apps) before they happen. This can help the phone deliver better network performance, rapid cooling when needed, to smooth AI functions and gameplay, etc.
Battery:
The Vivo Y20 comes equipped with a large 5000mAh battery that provides 16-hours of online HD movie streaming, or up to 11 straight hours of intensive gaming*, thanks to its AI power-saving optimizations. The phone comes with an 18W FlashCarge fast charger as well, providing as much as 70% charging (from 0%) in as little as 69 minutes. Reverse charging is also supported, so you can charge other phones if need be. However, reverse charging requires an appropriate OTG cable, which needs to be purchased separately.
