Phones are evolving and so are the technologies surrounding them. We’ve seen brands pushing bounds further and further in terms of charging (mostly Xiaomi to be honest). This time around, Xiaomi seems to have triumphed in this department with what they’re calling Xiaomi HyperCharge tech.
What is Xiaomi HyperCharge then?
“HyperCharge”, the term in itself is nothing new, and Xiaomi’s own contemporary Black Shark uses that name to advertise charging. The name might be old but the tech behind it surely isn’t.
Simply put, it is 200 Watts charging tech which Xiaomi claims, can juice up a 4000mAh battery in just 8 minutes. While we’ve seen 120W wired charging from several brands like iQOO and even Xiaomi’s own Mi10 Ultra from last year, 200W definitely is a leap forward.
But it isn’t just the wired charging that gets a boost, Wireless HyperCharge gets 120 Watts charging as well. With that power, Xiaomi claims 0 to 100 in 15 minutes of charging for a supported device with a 4000mAh battery.
Should you be concerned?
The answer is ‘NO’. While all that big numbers might seem cool, the faster the charging the more is the heat generated. It surely is cool for quick top-ups and all, but it all boils down to battery health. Before jumping onto the fast charging bandwagon, ask yourself, do you actually need it?

Nevertheless, Xiaomi’s demonstration of the HyperCharge on a custom-built Mi 11 Pro definitely was a technical marvel. 0 to 50% in just 3 minutes and a little under eight minutes to hit the 100% mark. For wireless charging, it only took a minute to get to 10% and 7 minutes to get from 0 to 50%. Xiaomi hasn’t announced when and which phone will actually get this tech, so let’s just wait and watch what future the HyperCharge holds.
