With Samsung announcing the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event on August 11, seems like Xiaomi has decided to steal the limelight by launching the much-anticipated flagship from Xiaomi- the Mi Mix 4 on August 10. Making an announcement through their official Weibo page, Xiaomi made the announcement. What makes the Mi Mix 4 so special, is that it is rumored to pack in an in-display camera- the first for Xiaomi. Here’s everything we have on the upcoming Xiaomi Mi Mix 4.
A game of rumors:
A popular leakster who goes by the online name Ice Universe, claims that the Mi Mix 4 will get an in-display fingerprint scanner and an in-display selfie shooter as well. While the in-display camera isn’t something that we’ll be seeing for the first time; we’ve had the ZTE Axon 20 5G as the world’s first smartphone with an in-display camera.
However, the ZTE Axon 20 5G did have its flaws, and Xiaomi has jumped on the bandwagon a little later, the chances are the tech might have evolved. Rumors have it that the Mi Mix 4 will have low-light transmittance which will, in turn, hide the pixels around the cameras. This not just means that the selfie shooter is almost invisible, but also the display quality remains unadulterated.
Design and Display:
On the display front, the Mi Mix 4 is supposed to have minimal bezels and a no-notch no-hole punch display. Since the in-display fingerprint scanner and the in-screen camera require some amount of light to pass through it, the display here will be AMOLED. In order to make the selfie camera work as well as any other selfie shooter, Xiaomi might cap the resolution at FHD.
As for the design, there have been renders of the Mix 4 previously as well. But the renders from HoiINDI suggest that the Mix 4 will have a rectangular chassis with rounded corners and a huge camera bump to the back. The camera bump accommodates a quad-camera setup with a secondary screen to the back.
Cameras:
As for the optics, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 is rumored to feature a Samsung GN1s 50-megapixel snapper as a primary, a secondary 48MP ultrawide, and a 48MP telephoto sensor as well.

Performance and Memory:
At the helm of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 4, Snapdragon 888 Plus is supposed to be running the show. As per the TENAA listing of the Mix 4, there might be two variants; a base 8GB RAM + 256GB storage and a top-tier 12GB RAM + 256GB storage option. Rumors suggest that there might be a third variant with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of onboard storage. As for the RAM, Xiaomi is supposed to have Micron’s LPDDR5 uMCP RAM memory.
And as the listing suggests, Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 will run MIUI 12.5 built on top of Android 11.
Connectivity:
On the connectivity front, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 is supposed to have WiFi 6 and it might also bring support for UWB and mmWave 5G.
Battery and Charging:
The Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 is supposed to be running off of a 5000mAh battery. What’s overwhelming is that the Chinese certification platforms like 3C and TENAA suggest that it might get 120Watt charging. Rumors also suggest that the Mi Mix 4 might get support for 70W or 80W fast wireless charging.
While these are still unverified and we’ll have to wait till the actual launch on the 10th of August to find out if these rumors do tally. But this is enough rumors to get anyone psyched- off course in a positive way.
