The Apple SE2 has finally been launched as the first iPhone to be launched this year. And not only is the 2020 SE2 the first iPhone to make its way to the gizmo hungry public, but it is also one that millions of people have been anxiously waiting for a long long time. A follow-up to the much appreciated iPhone SE, this phone is one that promises a premium iPhone experience at a cheaper price.
General Overview: ‘Second generation of a much loved budget-friendly iPhone SE’
Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, and smartphone sales dropping harder than the grades of a student chronically addicted to DOTA, Apple doesn’t look discouraged enough to stop from releasing their SE2 right now. As a follow up to the iPhone SE released in 2016, the iPhone SE2 is something that just might be what the world needs in the middle of a pandemic-fueled economic downfall. Not some overpriced smartphone where you can make emojis talk, but a performance geared one at a lower price point which consumers are really going to appreciate.
Design and display:
The iPhone SE2 features a 4.7” Retina HD display placed in an aerospace-grade aluminum frame. The front selfie cam is a 7 MP one, placed in the wide horizontal bezel on top of the phone, Needless to say, this is a nostalgic punch to the earlier compact designs that iPhones were so famous for. A touch ID sensor is placed in the Home button (yes, it has one). Face recognition hasn’t been integrated though, with is a bummer.
Top notch processor… but at what price?:
Apple’s very own A13 Bionic chipset, the one that’s actually used in most recent premium models, is responsible for powering this compact powerhouse. However, it’s clear to see that Apple might have had to cut corners on the camera section, as it features only a single 12 MP, f/1.8 aperture wide camera. Yes, that’s right folks. In a time where companies stuff multiple cameras from all angles for all different purposes, we have a newly released iPhone with only a single camera. Well, the camera’s not completely useless either, of course. With features like cinematic video stabilization on both ends and 4k capture at 60FPS, this setup isn’t anywhere near unusable.
Battery life and charging:
Even though it only sports a measly 1821 mAh LiPo battery, the A13 Bionic chipset’s performance efficiency makes it possible for this little beast to have long battery life. The phone comes with 18W fast charging, and can reportedly charge from 0 to 50% in as little as 30 minutes. The phone also boasts wireless charging capability and supports Qi-certified wireless charging.
