Apple has decided to treat its smartwatch fans to a treat with two of its most awaited products. Launched almost back-to-back at Apple’s virtual event on Tuesday, these two Apple watches come with some exciting features. Apple Watch Series 6 aimed to be the industry challenging flagship, and the Apple watch SE being the slightly more watered down and affordable smartwatch release. In this article, we will go over the Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE in-depth, covering their specs, and also give an estimated price in Nepal.
Apple Watch Series 6:
Talking in terms of functionality, the most boasted feature of this new watch seems to be its ‘revolutionary’ Blood Oxygen feature that tracks oxygen levels in the blood offering more control and monitoring over user’s wellness. In about 15 seconds, the Watch Series 6 can gather important info about your oxygen levels, breathing, blood circulation, quality, etc. through its Oximeter. All other features seem to have gotten updates as well – this watch, after all, flaunt’s Apple’s newest S6 chipset.
The watch runs on watchOS 7 and has a very intuitive software design. The watch follows the Always-On display design, which keeps the display on while consuming very little power. The phone also comes with features like fall protection and tough water resistance for durability.
Talking about the design, the Apple Watch Series 6 comes with a square watch head that is curved around the edges and very clean and visually appealing to look at. A circular crown knob is present on the right side, which gives this modernistic smartwatch a bit of a classic vibe. The watch is available in standard silver, blue, red, grey, and gold aluminum colors. The bands come in two types: smoothed solo and braided.

Apple Watch SE:
This is almost a more affordable version of the Watch Series 6 and comes with some compromises. This new release packs all the features that Apple watch lovers know and love into a modern design that looks clean and stylish. It even comes in the same color shades as the Apple Series 6, except for blue and red.
Talking about features and functionality, the Apple Watch SE features the same accelerometer, gyroscope, and always-on altimeter used on the Apple Watch Series 6. Complete with the latest motion sensors and microphone, the phone also features essential protective features like fall detection, Emergency SOS calls, international emergency calling, etc. However, unlike the Apple Watch Series 6, this phones comes with the S5 chipset, while using the same watchOS 7 software interface.
One thing, however, that is better than the Apple Watch Series 6 is the display. The Apple Watch SE features the largest Retina watch display, which is 30%* larger than that used in Series 6. The watch display and UI are adjusted accordingly so users can make the most out of this larger display.
Price and availability:
The launch price for the Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE is set at $399 and $279, respectively, which translates roughly to NRs. 47,250 and NRs. 33,049. Needless to say, this is pretty overpriced, even for an Apple Watch. Looking at recent trends, the price when it hits Nepal is likely to be quite a bit higher than this due to shipping costs and taxes.
