This is specially done to prevent excessive use of the bandwidth that an ISP provides. ISPs say that it is to ensure a quality internet experience for the entirety of its userbase. 

How does CGNET’s Fair Usage Policy Work?

What does that mean for the CGNET subscribers? It means that CG NET can skimp on your 120Mbps Unlimited volume plan if you reach a certain threshold of bandwidth usage. While this may be confusing, it is what it is. 

CGNET will calculate your data usage by summing up the upload and download data used every month. And if the total exceeds the threshold, CGNET will slow down your internet speeds.
