CGNET; should you consider switching your current ISP?
CG Communications was licensed by Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA) back in March 2021. Licensed as a Network Service Provider and Internet Service Provider, CG Communications has brought forth CGNET. Starting off with the valley, CGNET offers a high-speed fiber-based connection with 120 Mbps of speed.
CGNET is starting its service today onwards and will provide its services inside the valley, to begin with. Spanning across the nation afterward (no word on that as of now). But regardless of the limited coverage area, the introductory pricing for early adopters.

This isn’t a volume-based package and CGNET is marketing it as an “unlimited” plan. But, take that with a pinch of salt, as it falls under Fair Usage Policy(FUP).
What is a Fair Usage Policy (FUP)?
Fair Usage Policy is a common practice among ISP companies globally, which permits an ISP to cap down your Internet Speeds and even restrict them if need be. This is specially done to prevent excessive use of the bandwidth that an ISP provides. ISPs say that it is to ensure a quality internet experience for the entirety of its userbase.
How does CGNET’s Fair Usage Policy Work?
What does that mean for the CGNET subscribers? It means that CG NET can skimp on your 120Mbps Unlimited volume plan if you reach a certain threshold of bandwidth usage. While this may be confusing, it is what it is.
CGNET will calculate your data usage by summing up the upload and download data used every month. And if the total exceeds the threshold, CGNET will slow down your internet speeds. Wait till your neighborhood comes under CGNET’s coverage area. To know whether your area falls under the coverage, head over to https://www.cgnet.com.np.

Verdict:
CGNET does bring the best bang for the buck when compared to other major ISPs that we currently have. While other ISPs also have some TV packages bundled with them, the price at which CGNET is offering its services will spare you enough cash to pay for a separate TV connection. Thus, the choice is yours. The pricing for a similar connection from other ISPs with respect to CGNET can best be illustrated in a tabular form.
