Design
Coolpad Mega 2.5D comes with an impressive plastic body with a metal frame design. The metal frame design gives the Coolpad Mega 2.5D a premium look and feel. Coolpad 2.5d has a dimension of 153.00*76.80*7.85, and it feels quite comfortable in my hands, I was easily able to use the phone with my one hand. As the name suggests, this phone has a 2.5D curved glass on the front which gives it a premium touch. This phone has 5.5 inches of LCD display with 720 * 1280 pixel resolution. On the top-front, the phone packs 8MP of a front-facing camera, Ambient Light Sensor, Earpiece and Notification Light.

On the bottom-front, the phone has Coolpad branding and a virtual capacitive button for Back, Recent Apps and Home which can be easily customized based on the user preference.A button customization is a great option as it helps the user to choose the suitable position of the buttons according to their habit.

On the back, there is an 8MP of rear camera with autofocus and LED flash and a secondary mic for noise cancellation. On the bottom, there is Coolpad branding with a speaker. The speaker of this phone is of average quality but, the sound quality is better than most of the other smartphones in its price range.

On the right side, there is a power key and a hybrid sim tray. On the left, there is a volume rocker key. On the top, there is a 3.5mm headphone jack port. Similarly, on the bottom, there is micro USB port and a primary microphone. The quality of the microphone is average, the sound recorded from this phone is clear but there is a bit of less noise cancellation due to which the external noise sounds loud.
Coolpad Mega 2.5D features 5.5 inches of HD (720 * 1280) display and comes with a scratch resistant glass which is pretty tough. During the review period, the display didn’t get a single scratch on it even though I did not use any protection. The display is not the best in the market, but the colour reproduction and the viewing angle of the phone are excellent. The content on screen looks sharp, and the sunlight visibility of the phone is also good compared to other smartphones in the market.

Performance
Coolpad Mega 2.5D is featured with 3GB of RAM and 1.0 GHz Quad-Core MediaTek MT6735p CPU with Mali-T720MP2 which helps the phone to perform the task at its maximum. Although the phone has 3GB of RAM, the phone has a laggy UI which makes performance slower as the Cool UI uses lots of resources. The processor used in the phone is an old processor, but the processor is more than capable of performing day to day tasks without any hiccups. During the review period, I have played lots of heavy games and tested the performance of the phone by using the phone as a power user, and I was surprised to see that the phone was able to perform the task. Although sometimes while using heavy apps like games, it took a bit of time to start the app, but after starting the app, it performed great with few frame drops but without any lags.
Camera
This phone is packed with 8MP of rear camera with f2.2 aperture. The photos captured by the rear camera are fair and has decent colour reproduction, most of the times. The Rear Camera can take great photos in excellent lighting condition, but the camera struggles to take great photos during low light situations. Although, the Camera app is easy to use and provides lots of manual feature like shutter speed control, manual focus, etc the focus speed is slow, due to which the user needs to be steady for a bit of time to take great photos. The camera can take videos up to 720p, and the videos taken from this phone are excellent with great colour reproduction but the phone needs to be very steady, and there must be enough lightning because the videos taken from this phone in low lighting condition are not good at all.
The phone has 8MP of a front-facing camera, and the camera can take great photos in both indoor and outdoor environments. Coolpad Mega 2.5D is marketed as a Selfie Phone, and the phone has lived up to its reputation and provides the feature like Beauty Mode with different level of face enhancement, HDR mode, GIF mode and Sound & Shot. The front-facing camera has no auto-focus feature, but it is common, as most of the other phones don’t have this feature.
Battery
Coolpad Mega 2.5D comes with a 2500 mAh non-removal battery which is average and gives a day of battery backup in the limited use of the apps. The phone has 2-3 hours of On Screen Time, but it depends on how the device is being used. During the review period, I have got a full day of battery backup on normal uses, in which I have used the phone to capture photos, surf the internet, played music, watched videos online and played a game for a short period.
The phone comes with a 5V charger which charges the phone in less than two hours. The phone provides an interesting feature to its user while charging; it provides an option to its users to choose between two modes of charging, Efficient and Common. The Efficient Mode is like a fast charging option for this phone, and Common Charging is normal charging option.
Conclusion
The Coolpad Mega 2.5D looks very promising by looking at the specifications, but we got a bit disappointed after using the phone for a month. The phone comes with laggy UI which degrades the performance of the phone. The design of this phone is excellent for an efficient use of the space inside the phone, as most of the other phones are quite thick with no proper space management inside the phone. In the camera section, the phone has a great camera which can take great photos, but the auto-focus of the camera is quite slow which makes it difficult to take good photos as you have to take pictures with steady hands. If Coolpad can solve this problem on their phone, then the phone is surely among the best in the category. So, if you are in need of a stylish curved phone for your light to bit heavy use, and mostly if you are tight on your budget, you can surely go for this phone.
