In this article, we will be reviewing the Honor X6a with its features, specifications, and prices. We have been using the X6a smartphone for almost 15 days and we have checked its photo, video capture, gaming, and media consumption. We conducted daily tests to provide potential buyers with insights into what they can expect from the device. To begin, it’s worth noting that the Honor X5 Plus is a cost-effective option priced at Rs. 17,500 in Nepal.
Honor X6a Review
Design & Built
The Honor X6a seems like a high-end smartphone with its frosted, shiny back panel and curved edges, giving it a luxurious feel and easy grip. The display, made of rounded plastic, offers decent quality. The camera module on the back protrudes slightly, giving the phone a neat appearance. Overall, the design, display, and price of the phone are all satisfactory.
Buttons & Ports
Talking about buttons and ports, has a similar layout as other budget-friendly smartphones. Type C port, Volume Rocker, SIM tray, Power on/off, and fingerprint sensor. Single bottom-firing speaker, headphone jack.
Display
The phone features a 90Hz refresh rate and a TFT display capable of showing HD content. While the viewing experience is good, the colors appear overly saturated, making the content stand out more than necessary. Despite being advertised as having a 6.56-inch screen, the actual size seems smaller due to the curved display and bezels. Although the phone supports a 90Hz refresh rate, the user interface feels less smooth and sometimes lags. We expect future software updates to improve its performance.
Camera
After using the phone regularly for over two weeks, we observed that its camera performs well considering its price. It takes decent photos in good light but struggles in low-light situations. Despite being a budget phone, it surprisingly offers good portrait and macro shots. Although it looks like it has four cameras, it has three cameras along with a flashlight, all designed within one module.
The front-facing camera is decent, but the photo details could be better. However, it does have a good dynamic range. When it comes to videos, it can capture 1080p footage at 30 frames per second, but the quality is just average.
Performance
When I used the phone normally, it was slow, but when I increased the refresh rate to the maximum of 90Hz, the navigation became smoother. However, when I used heavy applications, it still lagged. Even after switching apps, there were still delays. During our testing, the phone received an update which improved the lag somewhat. We hope more updates will fix the lag issues completely.
The phone has a MediaTek Helio G36 processor, similar to the one in the Infinix Smart 8 Plus. We don’t recommend this phone for gaming, but you can play low-level games without much lag. However, high-performance games will likely lag a lot. Games like Clash Royale and Clash of Clans can be played smoothly on low settings. Overall, the phone’s performance is average.
Battery & Other Features
The Honor X6a smartphone comes with a powerful 5200 mAh battery and supports fast 22.5W charging. It’s designed for excellent battery optimization and performance. During testing, the phone lasted a full day on a single charge without needing to be plugged in again. It charges from 10% to 100% in just 1 hour and 30 minutes.
The phone runs on Magic OS 7.1, based on Android 13, offering various features and customization options. However, we have experienced significant lag and limited customization on this specific model. They are hopeful that upcoming software updates will address these issues and improve the overall user experience.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the Honor X6a is an affortable phone under Rs. 20,000 in Nepal. It has a sleek design, a satisfactory display, and decent camera performance. However, it does come with shortcomings, particularly in terms of performance where it struggles with lag, especially when running heavy applications or games. While the battery life is impressive and the fast charging feature is convenient, the user interface and software optimization could be better. Nonetheless, with potential improvements through software updates.
