ZTE launched the Nubia Z50 smartphone in China towards the end of last year. Now, a new addition to the Nubia family, the Nubia Z50 Ultra, has been introduced. This phone features a notch-free AMOLED display and unique camera lenses of 35mm and 85mm focal length.

Built & Display
The Nubia Z50 Ultra boasts a flat-frame, boxy design unlike the Z50’s curved edges, and has a two-tone color scheme on the back with Gray and Black being the available options.
However, a unique color combination called “Starry Night” is also available, featuring artwork that mimics Vincent van Gogh’s well-known impressionist painting from the late 1800s. All color choices feature a red accent on the camera rims and power key.
For display, gets notch-free AMOLED display is a major highlight, with the front camera hidden beneath the display. It has a 6.8-inch Full HD+ AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and 960Hz touch recording rate.
ZTE has also included a 1440Hz PWM dimming to reduce eye strain, and the screen has a peak brightness of 1500 nits for outdoor viewing. The notch-free display also supports 10-bit colors and a fully DCI-P3 color gamut.

Performance
It is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, which has a 1+4+3 architecture with a Cortex-X3-based Prime core, Cortex-A715 and Cortex-A710 performance cores, and Cortex-A510 efficiency cores. Adreno 740 manages the graphics rendering for gaming.
To dissipate heat, there is a large 4212mm2 vapor chamber liquid cooling device. The phone comes with 16GB of LPDDR5X Memory and up to 1TB of storage. It runs on MyOS 13, which is based on Android 13 and is said to be free of bloatware, according to Nubia.
Camera
It has a unique camera system as well, with 35mm and 85mm custom optics being its standout feature. The main camera features a 64MP Sony IMX787 sensor with a 35mm focal length, and it is joined by a 64MP periscope camera with an 85mm focal length for closer shots.
Moreover, there is a 50MP ultrawide-angle camera with AF and a closeup lens. The rear camera system has multi-channel spectral sensors and a ring-shaped LED flash to enhance color fidelity in low-light situations.
On the front, the phone has a 16MP face camera hidden under the display with larger pixels measuring 2.24 m in diameter. It uses fourth-generation Neovision under-display technology to capture 30% more light.
Furthermore, the phone features an AI super-sensing engine and image super-transparency enhancement technology that allow for video calls with screens up to 50% more transparent.
Battery & Other Features
Fueling the device is a 5000mAh battery that allows for 80W fast charging. It also supports various connectivity options, including USB Type-C, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and 5G.
In addition, the phone features a physical slider that enables users to take photos instantly, activate gaming mode, and mute notifications. It’s important to note that this is the first Nubia Z model to include a physical slider.

Nubia Z50 Ultra Price in Nepal and Availability
The base model of the Nubia 50 Ultra with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage has been announced at a price of CNY 3,999. While it is uncertain if the Nubia Z50 Ultra will be available in Nepal, if it does, it is expected to be priced at around NPR 89,999.

Final Thoughts:
The Nubia Z50 Ultra boasts impressive specifications, particularly in terms of camera technology, display, and processing power. The custom 35mm and 85mm optics, notch-free AMOLED display, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, and 16GB of LPDDR5X Memory make this smartphone a contender in the high-end market.
Additionally, the 80W rapid charging, physical slider, and MyOS 13 based on Android 13 with no bloatware are all welcomed features. However, the availability of the Nubia Z50 Ultra outside of China is uncertain, and its price in Nepal remains to be seen.
