Oppo took the stage on the first day of the ongoing “Inno Day” event to unveil its new smart glasses. Meanwhile, the Air Glass is described by Oppo as an “assisted reality” product rather than an augmented reality device because it projects 2D information into your field of view rather than 3D items onto the real world. Here, we’ll go over the specifications, main features, and availability of the Oppo Air Glass in greater depth.
Oppo Air Glass Overview:
Design and Display
The display is monochromatic, with either 16 or 256 levels of grayscale depending on the setting, so don’t expect the Air Glass to beam you rich material. On the other hand, the waveguide display uses a small projector using Micro LED technology that can produce up to 3 million nits of peak brightness.; however, Oppo claims that typical brightness will be up to 1,400 nits.
Moving on to the frame designs, a magnetic port on the inside of the frame allows it to network to more traditional spectacles. As for color options, there are two options: a silver half-frame and a black full-frame, both of which come in two sizes.
Performance
The Air Glass is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4100 processor and weighs less than 30 grams (about 1 ounce).
Features
You can use Oppo’s Air Glass to get notifications and apps like the weather and calendar.
It can also be used as a teleprompter, navigator, or translator.
The Control app allows you to control the display settings of the glass.
It can also link to the latest Oppo phones and smart watches (running ColorOS 11 and above).
Rest of the Specs
The CNC method is applied to create the Oppo Spark Micro Projector. It has a 5-lens projection mechanism and only covers a volume of 0.5cc. Additionally, Oppo uses Micro LEDs with a pixel size of 4m for projection. For enhancing brightness, it employs bespoke diffractive optical wavelength.
As for connectivity, it has all the capabilities you’d expect from bold glass, including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, a touch bar, microphone, speaker, and hands-free control (speech and head/head gesture). Furthermore, it supports Chinese-English translations right now, but Oppo is also working on Chinese-Japanese and Chinese-Korean translations.
Oppo Air Glass Availability
Oppo Air Glass comes in full and half-frame designs, each with two sizes. In the first quarter of 2021, it will be available in mainland China. There are currently no data about its pricing or global availability.
