Qualcomm Technologies just announced the upgraded version of Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC, i.e., Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus 5G SoC. The company claims the new Snapdragon 865 Plus is designed to deliver increased performance for superior gameplay and 5G connectivity and better battery efficiency.
Superior Gaming Experience:
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus 5G SoC is the revived version of Snapdragon 865, the chipset that has powered more than 140 devices. The company presents insanely fast Qualcomm Snapdragon Elite Gaming experiences, truly global 5G and AI applications. The chipset comes with Snapdragon Elite Gaming premium features that offer desktop-quality gaming with desktop forward rendering, updateable GPU drivers, smooth gameplay, and real 10-bit HDR gaming. This means the company will continuously boost graphic drivers for mobile games.
Performance:
The advanced mobile platform is loaded with the Kryo 585 CPU, with the clock speed up to 3.1GHz, which delivers around 10 percent higher performance compared to the regular version. The chipset comes with the Adreno 650 GPU, which is also 10 percent faster than the previous chipset.

Faster 5G connectivity:
Talking about the connectivity, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon X55 Modem-RF System that supports 5G. The most intriguing feature is the FastConnect 6900 chip that supports Wi-Fi 6E. It will surely be interesting to see the upcoming smartphones with connections over the 6GHz spectrum. Also, the device with the new chipset will require a separate modem for 5G connectivity.

Qualcomm AI Engine
With the latest 5TH Generation Qualcomm AI Engine, the newest chipset offers no language barriers with real-time translation capabilities for seamless communication, globally. Other than that, the SoC supports smooth camera, audio, and other AI applications, the same as the regular chipset. To be precise, the 5TH Generation Qualcomm AI Engine is twice as powerful as the previous version.
As stated by the company, the ASUS ROG Phone 3 will be powered with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus chipset, which is expected to launch in the coming weeks. Also, the new chipset is anticipated to run on Lenovo Legion Gaming Phone. Besides, some more devices will be powered with the refined chipset that might be announced in the third quarter of 2020.
