Samsung Glasses XR Headset Overview
In the beginning, Samsung had intended to release its own Extended Reality (XR) headgear in February 2024 under the name Galaxy Glasses. However, Samsung has opted to postpone the release by three to six months due to the fierce competition from Apple’s Vision Pro headset. Through the use of one device, the Galaxy Glasses hope to integrate augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and mixed reality (MR) technologies.
Samsung has worked with businesses like Ross Video in the past because it understands the potential of XR technology. Samsung does not yet have a specific XR product despite having produced Gear VR and Odyssey VR. Samsung announced agreements with Qualcomm and Google to create an XR ecosystem. In addition, it has been claimed that Samsung’s LSI division, which is separate from the mobile division, is developing an XR chipset.

Display & Features
A high-resolution display with 3,000 pixels per inch (PPI), up from the initially anticipated 2,000 PPI, is anticipated for the Galaxy Glasses. The Qualcomm XR chipset, possibly the Snapdragon XR2 chip utilized in the Meta Quest 2 headset, will most likely power the headset. The partnership between Google and Samsung raises the possibility that the Galaxy Glasses will run an Android operating system.
Other Features
The Galaxy Glasses are rumored to have features including foveated rendering, hand tracking, and eye tracking. Eye tracking enables
/AR cursor control by following the user’s eye movements on the device. Without the use of controls, hand tracking enables interaction with virtual objects. By focusing on the user’s field of view, focalized rendering enhances graphics while preserving battery life.
Samsung Glasses XR Headset Launch Date
As a result of competition from Apple’s Vision Pro headset, Samsung postponed the launch of the Galaxy Glasses in order to enhance their features and appearance. Although the precise release date is unknown, it is anticipated to occur near the end of 2024. The Vision Pro, Meta Quest 2, and other expensive XR headsets on the market will be in direct competition with the Galaxy Glasses.
