Worth the Money
Honor has recently introduced its latest smartphone, the X7b, to the Nepali market. In this review, we’ll assess the device from the perspective of an average user. Our team has been actively using it for nearly two weeks, engaging in various daily activities such as media consumption, video and photo shooting, gaming, and more. Without further ado, let’s delve into the review. The price of the X7b in Nepal is Rs. 23,999.
Honor X7b Review
Design
The Honor X7b has been imitated to give off that premium feel. Currently, I have the Midnight Black color variant with me, but there are also two other color variants available: Emerald Green and Flowering Silver. Looking at the front, you’ll notice rounded corners and minimal bezels, giving it a clean look. The phone is built with plastic on the outside, and on the back, there are circular modules that add to its clean aesthetic. Design-wise, considering the pricing, it feels justifiable.
Port, Buttons, & Display
Talking about the phone port and buttons, it comes with typical normal types which are available in mobile under 25,000 in Nepal. Type C port, 3.5 mm headphone jack, volume rocker, fingerprint sensor which also works as lock button, sim tray, speaker, and a pair of microphones.
In terms of display, the X7b features a 90Hz TFT LCD screen, ensuring a pleasant viewing experience for content. While the colors may not be as vibrant, the minimal bezels contribute to good overall quality. The speaker’s performance is also commendable, free from distortion issues. While it may not deliver exceptionally crisp sound, it certainly offers value for its price.
Cameras & Video
Moving on to the camera capabilities, the X7b boasts a triple camera setup, featuring a 108MP main sensor, a 5MP wide sensor, and a 2MP macro sensor. Under favorable conditions, it produces satisfactory photos, but it struggles in challenging situations, such as low-light environments. Despite this, its dynamic range is commendable, and the inclusion of a night mode option aims to enhance nighttime photography, albeit with mixed results.
In optimal lighting conditions, it surprises with decent photo quality, although occasional issues with color oversaturation may arise. The wide and macro sensors deliver respectable results considering the price and camera specifications. On the front camera front, it captures decent photos with balanced color contrast.
For the video, the phone comes with 1080p 30 frames per second (fps) which records videos. It provides average-quality video recording. If held steadily, it delivers decent results, but even slight hand shaking can introduce a wobbling effect in videos. Overall, the camera performance of the Honor X7b is average, but given its price, it aligns well with its camera specifications. Nevertheless, potential future updates from Honor could enhance its performance in various aspects, offering better usability.
Performance
In day-to-day usage, such as casual gaming, internet browsing, photo capturing, and calls, the Honor X7b doesn’t encounter significant issues. However, when subjected to heavier tasks, it tends to heat up easily, which is a common occurrence. Equipped with a Snapdragon 680 chipset, it can handle basic games and daily tasks smoothly. Games like PUBG and Mobile Legends can be played without major issues, indicating overall decent performance. Nonetheless, the heating problem remains a concern.
Battery & Other Features
This phone is equipped with a 6000 mAh battery and comes with a 35W power adapter in the box. As a result, it takes approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes to fully charge the battery. With our regular usage, we were able to achieve a battery backup of around one day. The phone runs on Honor’s own OS, MagicOS v7.2, which is based on Android 13. Suggesting that we can expect future updates from Honor to improve the user experience.
Conclusion
In conclusion, when considering the in-hand feel and design of the phone, it strives to provide a premium experience, making it a good option within its price range. The display is impressive, with minimal bezels, and the camera can capture decent photos under good lighting conditions. Performance-wise, it handles tasks well, albeit with occasional heating issues. Overall, considering its features and performance, it’s a solid choice in this price range. If you’re looking for a phone around the Rs. 25,000 mark, the Honor X7b could be a worthwhile option to consider.
