Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro is finally here and Huawei has priced it at NRs.34,990. It is the successor to last year’s Huawei Watch GT 2. Apart from the 5000 rupees price bump over the Watch GT 2, what else are the upgrades? Let’s dive into it.
Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro
Display and Design:
Unlike last year’s Watch GT 2, there aren’t different dial sizes and even though there are two variants viz. Sports and Classic for the Watch GT 2 Pro, both of these variants share the same titanium chassis with sapphire dial and a 1.39” inch AMOLED panel with the resolution of 454×454 pixels. Both of these variants boast a ceramic back which as per Huawei’s claims is to increase the comfort for prolonged usage and improves on the battery life as well.
The only thing that differentiates the Sports from the Classic is the straps; the Sports flaunts a silicon wrist strap while the Classic flaunts a leather strap. When it comes to watch faces, Huawei offers 200+ watch faces at your disposal right off the bat and has added support for Huawei Share OneHop that lets you transfer photos from your phone over to the watch to use it as a watchface.
Health and Fitness Tracking:
When it comes to fitness tracking, the new Watch GT 2 Pro supports over a hundred workout modes such as climbing, rowing, surfing, tennis, etc. to keep a track of every move you make. There’s a dedicated “Golf Mode” that analyzes the pattern of your swings and strokes and helps you refine your swing speed and frequency by providing data references. There is support for voice commands which as of now is supported for 10+ running courses to guide you through the process.
On top of that, the Watch GT 2 Pro can also detect six common workout modes that includes indoor/outdoor running, indoor/outdoor walking, elliptical and rowing so you never lose track of your workout sessions. Huawei hasn’t skimped on any of the sensors and works in tandem with the software making way for features like TruSeen 4.0+, 24-hour Heart rate tracking, TruSleep 2.0 Sleep Monitoring. TruRelax stress monitoring, SpO2 sensor for oxygen level monitoring as well as VO2Max Sensor to actively track your oxygen consumption pre and post workout. Huawei claims that the upgraded LEDs and four photodiodes lower the power consumption while measuring SpO2 or heart rate.
With support for 5ATM of water resistance (50m depth for 10 minutes), the Huawei Watch GT 2 pro can definitely withstand the swimming sessions and needless to say, it will survive your sweaty workout sessions.
Powering the Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro is a 455mAh lithium ion battery which Huawei claims will give you 2 weeks of battery life on normal usage and 8 days of heavy usage. Finally, Huawei has added Qi wireless charging to the Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro and Huawei claims 5 minutes of charge will give you 10 hours of usage. The addition of Qi wireless charging makes the Watch GT 2 a perfect companion for devices that support reverse wireless charging.
The Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro runs on Huawei’s LiteOS with the Kirin A1 SoC serving as the heart with 32GB of RAM. With 4GB of onboard storage and a speaker baked right into the watch, you can make and attend calls directly from the watch and store some songs right onto the watch (for instances when you forget your phone).
With GPS built-in, Huawei has added a new “Route Back” feature to the Watch GT 2 Pro which tracks your route and serves as a backup option if you find yourself lost on a path less travelled, the Watch GT 2 Pro can guide you back to safety. The Watch GT 2 Pro has a barometer built-in that notifies you of sudden change in air pressure thus notifying you of what the weather will be like. Huawei Share OneHop is a feature that Huawei/Honor smartphones with NFC and running on EMUI 11 or later can use to share photos from your phone to the watch with one tap. Joining the list of features is “Remote Shutter” for smartphones running on EMUI 8.1 or later enabling the Watch GT 2 Pro to act as a remote shutter.
P.S. The reason behind adding some of these features to novelties is the fact that some of them are totally Smartphone exclusive i.e. either you need to have a Huawei or Honor Phone to go alongside the Watch GT 2 Pro.
