HONOR X5 PLUS Review
Design & Built
Talking about the phone’s design, it boasts a high-value appearance reminiscent of premium models, featuring a combination of frosted and glossy finishes on the back. Its rounded corners provide a comfortable grip and easy portability. Constructed from plastic, Honor X5 Plus sports a sleek camera module on the back, adding to its premium look. Considering its design and build quality, the phone offers excellent value for its price.
Ports & Display
Similar to other budget models, Honor X5 Plus includes a USB Type C port, SIM tray, power button, fingerprint sensor, volume controls, bottom-firing speaker, and headphone jack. The screen is advertised as 6.56 inches TFT with a 90Hz refresh rate, but in reality, due to the bezels and rounded display, it appears smaller. The display provides HD content with sharp colors, akin to the Honor X6a smartphone. Despite claiming to support a 90Hz refresh rate, We did not find the phone to be smooth in operation.
Camera & Video
The phone takes good photos in bright light for its price but struggles in low light. However, it excels in portrait mode. It has two cameras: a main 50MP one and a depth sensor. The selfie camera is 5MP and performs similarly, with good results in good light and poorer ones in low light. Video quality is average at 1080p, 30 frames per second.
Performance
After using the smartphone for about a month in everyday tasks, we noticed some lagging at first. Switching to a 90Hz refresh rate helped a bit, but not completely. We believe that with software updates, this issue could be resolved entirely. The phone is affordable and uses a MediaTek Helio G36 processor, which is commonly found in budget smartphones. While it may not deliver high performance, it handles basic tasks well. However, more demanding games like PUBG don’t run smoothly, whereas simpler games like Clash of Clans work fine. Overall, the phone’s performance is average, but considering its price, it’s worth it.
Battery & Other Features
The Honor X5 Plus comes with a 5200 mAh battery, providing an effective capacity of 5100 mAh. In terms of battery performance, it offers a standard backup, ensuring a full day of usage on a single charge. With 5V charging, it can go from 10 percent to 100 percent in just 1 hour and 40 minutes.
This phone runs on Honor’s custom operating system, MagicOS 7.1, which offers numerous customization options. It also includes features like double knuckle tap for taking screenshots and multitasking with multiple windows, providing a satisfactory user interface experience.
Conclusion
The Honor X5 Plus is a solid option with a nice design and feel. It offers decent performance, a good camera, and battery specifications that make it a worthy choice for its price range compared to other affordable models. If you’re into casual gaming and need a smartphone for everyday tasks, this could be the right pick for you.
